I have a few distributer/timer cams here. Most of them have corrosion on the points bearing cam. Is there any way to recondition this surface so the points heel doesn't wear out prematurely 20250125_090726.jpg ? Cheers

Hard chrome, and regrind would restore the original profile, but you would have to find the right (microscopic) machinist to do that properly. I would just keep replacing points as I think that would be the most economic path for a motor that isn't expected to deliver high-performance.Eric Smith

What about glass beading the cam and using high temperature silver solder to fill the pits. Then remove the excess silver solder down to the base of the cam leaving just the pits that have been filled with the silver solder. Just a thought , I would experiment on something first before I tried it on a good piece.Jim D
