  • Need info on 1917 F / J LEFT case

    Does anyone have a picture of a 1917 Harley LEFT side case with a VIN that is BELOW around 8000 or better yet, below 5500.
    Feel free to obscure part of the VIN if it makes you more comfortable.
    Thanks in advance.

    Is this picture okay? I think this would be a 1917 Model F even though the SN contains the letter T? SN is 17T2+++ and I can email the unedited version to you if you wish, as well as a close-up.

      Thanks for the picture. Is the VIN four digits in the 2000’s or five digits? D7 at the start of the line bore number?

        You're welcome. Four sequence characters. At the end it looks like a mark has been made by a punch? I’ve seen the same thing at the end of a few other 1917 SNs while some others have a similar mark between two sequence characters.

        Yes the L-B number starts with D7 (D7 4++).

                  Here's what appears to be the lowest example I have of a 1917 twin. It’s approximately fifty higher than the SN posted by knucklehead 61. Looks like a fake L at the front. Also looks like there is a marking immediately after the T but I don’t know what it was meant to be. Maybe 1? Maybe A? Whatever it is I don’t think it was done at the factory. I don’t know the BNs.
