    Jd / VL transmission Brgs.

    I see some have recommended replacing stock mainshaft brgs with sealed 6304-2rs and 6208-2rs
    any thoughts on this change…..pros cons .??

    The big sprocket end roller should not be as strong as the original roller bearing set-up, but is much less expensive and so far so good. You need to leave in the 2288-17 bearing plate. The small sealed bearing does not have an offset in it like the 2280-15, so you may need say a 50 thou washer in there to set up the mainshaft end float closer to original.

      What direction did offset on the original bearing go Steve. Toward kicker or inside of trans.
      also would u leave bearings sealed both sides or remove inner seal

        The offset on the original 2280-15 is towards the inside of the case. Don't remove new bearing seals, in fact it does no harm to leave in the old brass seals as well, if they are not too damaged.
