Open Corbin gear

Hi.
I would like to open this gear to inspect, clean and lubricate. Do anyone know how it is supposed to be opened?

I believe both end tubes unscrew from the 90* EL. It's a fine thread. I'd hold the tube in a 3 jaw chuck and work the EL, maybe a bit of heat and penetrating oil.
