  • DLX 66 needles

    I have a DLX on my 29JD.
While working on it I noticed that the low speed needle was bottoming out on the needle valve lever.
if I bottom this out, I can still push the needle a further 1/16". This seems like the low speed needle I have is too short. It is hard to tune it if I don't have a base line setting.
How do i measure the length of this needle and confirm it is the correct one for this carby.

    Thank you,

    Mick!

The spring within the knob will always allow a little more travel, supposedly to protect the point.

Removed from the knob, your needle should be 3.5" long, from the bottom of the ball to the point.
(Only Linkert 1" Models used a shorter 3.125" needle.)

Contact is best observed by painting the point with a dry-erase marker; Hope this helps,..

      Thanks Cotton.
My needle measures 3 3/8", so I will get a new one.The point is damaged, so that may be the extra 1/8" that should be there.
      Cheers.
