Alright, i mounted my STOP light today. Hmmm...... not sure i am liking it so much in spite of the cool factor.... it really sticks up in the air and kinda kills the "fleet as a flyer" look.... oh well, i think i can get used to it, after all, Dad's bike had one, so this old fellow needs to have one also.

i have parts of another stop lite unit, it has a green STOP glass lens, and a red jewel, i fitted the green stop glass lens, and as much as i think the green is super cool, it does not stand out like the red glass. forget green is not the legal color lens. i know it is up to me, but what thoughts has anyone on fitting the green lens....???

as much as i don't care for a luggage rack, the luggage rack would almost look cool and offset the stop light sticking up in the air.

btw, the green lens brought back a memory. who else has seen green and white stop signs? back in the early 80's in Frankfort, Kentucky, there was a green and white stop sign, and no it was not faded. it stood there for years, and every time i visited/drove by that sign i so very badly wanted to liberate it, but it was on a 24/7/365 busy thoroughfare, so discretion was the better part of not doing something stupid, but sure would have made a great story, had i got caught or not liberating that sign. have never seen a green/white stop sign prior or since.

these pics don't show it the best, but the brake rod is down at least 2" and to the outside at least 2" of the lower frame tube, so much so, that i am thinking however i attach a stop light switch, the angle of pull placed on the switch is going to be pretty significant, certainly a far cry from a direct pull. i guess i am going to have to find a creative way to get as direct a pull on the switch as possible. Tommo is graciously sending me a period correct switch from the early 30's so once i have his switch in hand, i will have a better idea what i am dealing with to jury rig something together that doesn't cause excessive wear to the switch.... Going back to Tommo's earlier post, where could i source a "HD switch pull spring and the mount that goes on the brake rod?"

for routing the wire, i am going to go through the cloth sheath, then run the wire down a fender brace, to the switch. (do i understand correctly the original sheath was rubber? what would be a good substitute that would be like a rubber original?)

The clamp on the brake rod for the stop light spring started somewhere about 1934.
Here's what it looks like.
Should be easy enough to find one as the military Harleys used it also.

Tommo, i am guessing those parts would be in the 4xxx range. tried googling H-D parts books to see if there is anything i can download, no, but of course everyone is selling something. Would you know the pn's of those 3 pieces? did an ebay search, nothing like that. Looked on Johnny Sells.... no luck. any suggestions who i might contact or where to look for one?
