  • 1924 JDCA Crank Pin

    Hello,

Thanks to everyone who supplied information on flywheel torque specs. This is my first rebuild on a machine without pressurized oiling. Therefore I was surprised when I went to install the crank pin that while the replacement pin I ordered from Competition Distributing is keyed on one end, neither flywheel is keyed. I found the original pin and it's not keyed on either end and has no holes for bearing lubrication. The bag the new pin was supplied in is clearly marked for "1915 to 1936 Twins". Perhaps a later model required a key while the earlier did not but all other dimensions are the same so a "universal" pin is manufactured?

So, what's the opinions on if this pin is appropriate for a 1924 JDCA?

That pin is for a VL but can be used on your JDCA. It is dimensionally the same as the JD crank pin apart from the keyway and oil hole.

Thanks Mark! I'm sure I'll have many more questions as this rebuild progresses.
