Can someone tell me the polarity of a stock Harley JD coil? I can't see any marks on the coil itself. I guess I need to know which ear connects to the distributor and which goes to the batt.

Looking at left hand side of coil (as per your picture) - the LH or front terminal is +Ignition. The RH or rear terminal is Distributor.

Steve/Chris
I marked up my original picture. Do my markings make sense?
Steve, it almost looks like your coil might be mounted opposite of mine. The ears of my coil
Are closest to the right side or distributor side of the bike.Attached Files

Mike, i'm not sure what you mean, "almost looks like your coil might be mounted opposite of mine."

Here's a pic of a 28 unmolested JD, you can fairly clearly see the front terminal wire leading up to main harness and the rear terminal wire leading to timer.

Steve,
I think where my confusion is with the two different style coils. I have the earlier style coil with out spark plug wires exiting it.
Here is a pic of how my coil is mounted.Attached Files
