I Have just picked up an early '12 twin motor with a carb and unusual plate riveted to it. The script appears to say Model - K and then a stamped SR and underneath is the word HEITGEI. Can anyone identify the carb or know of the plate? thanks.

It's a Heitger carburetor. Probably should have a clear glass bowl. Heitgers were supplied as standard equipment on a few brands of that era and were also available as replacement carbs for many others.
They are rather rare. Too bad the bowl is missing.

Thanks, I've never heard of that brand before. I also have the top of the bowl, the valve and the float so I should be able to make the rest of the bowl (but not in glass)! Thanks again.Ian Biddle
