  • Cycleray lens question

I dug out a Cycleray lens that I have had over 20 years and noticed something different about it. At the top of the lens it is of course marked TOP. But there is no mold number there.

On the very bottom of the lens is printed, "PAT'D MADE IN USA PAT'S PENDING. 3"

I am assuming that the number 3 at the end of this line is the mold number. Has anyone else seen a lens like this one? Any idea of its vintage?

        Thanks Matt,
I was hoping this may have been an early lens rather than a later one.
I looked at some other lens and found one with # 3 at the top.

I looked on the lense that I have like that and it has pat's pend 1 on the bottom. I think they are probably earlier but I really dont know.

I forgot to mention the NOS one that I have still in the box has a 3 at the top and has 1942 newspaper as packing material in the box with the lense.

I have noticed that some of the original lenses have a small raised dot on the center on the inside while many do not. What is the significance of those and do they relate to early or late?

Try searching under the company name which is GUIDE. Cycleray is the product name.

What I was referring to was the line at the bottom of the lens. It says PAT’D.MADE IN THE U.S.A.PAT’S.PEND. It came out of an original box but I think I was hood winked down the line. Chris I checked though the rest of my stash and guess what I found, I have one lens with the mold number of 30 at the top and another with no number on top but PAT’S PEND ends with the number 2. Unfortunately both lenses are wrapped with that weird corrugated cardboard. The box with the 2 lens has a label on it that states 27 Central Ordnance Depot, London, Ontario. Bob L
