    Harley J Frame ID

If you can, post closeup pics of the following sections of your frame and I'll ID the exact year.
    Rear axle clips
    Steering head
    Top front motor mount
From above, the area from the seat post tube back to the upper cross bar between the upper stays.

    Thanks

stearing head supports on loopframes - changes 1919-1924?

attached a picture of the stearinghead on theŽ24 frame. I think the frames with the brazed-on reinforcements were used from late 1919 (maybe also a little later?)
Were there any changes done to these reinforcements? I have heared something about thicker steel-plates used on the late (1924) loopframes.

Would be great to get some more information on the headset design-details. I am convinced Mark has more details and more precise information on the introduction of these reinforcements?!

        Best wishes from Europe,

I would say that the head reinforcement started in 1920 however it could have been a late 1919 thing. Neither of my 1919 frames has this feature on the neck but all three of my 1920 frames do. While it looks like a brazed on plate, I'm pretty sure that it was a modification to the forging die.
