Splitdorf vs. Harley-Davidson (Champion)

New question for you guy's,
Did harley motors ever come with Splitdorf plugs ?
If so, what years (1903-1919 ?)
or did they always use, Champion ?

That's a good question Ken.

They used plugs other than Champion. Mid '30's used Globe plugs. Other brands were used in the early days.

since i am learning what i can about era appropriate spark plugs for the JD models, i am doing CPR on this thread...... My 1927 factory accessories catalog shows Wright spark plugs; the factory pictures of engines i have show Wright plugs installed. i am going to have a second green hex Splitdorf in my possession soon it has one slight difference from the one i have have identified as a P157. when i get it, i will be posting pics of both plugs apart to determine if they are the same or not. i would guess it is perhaps possible small changes could be made over a period of years of the same plug....? i want to get a good running pair of green hex's for my '27.... if anyone has any P157's or Wright's they'd sell, i'd appreciate if you contact me. cylinders on my '27 have the 7/8" hole....
