  • AMF American 700 padlock

Does anyone know if these locks with the round key can be re-keyed. I have 2 of them with no keys in my assortment that work in either of them.

Those barrel or tubular locks are special for sure. Locksmith is your only help unless you know the key number but they are never on the lock.

Many Locksmiths can help out. You'll have to call around to figure which one has the tooling for your needs.

Sorry to say, but Zach's Lock Shop is closed. He moved around in Mankato a few times, but is gone now.

Anyone else have a place to try?

Why not try American itself? They are still in business. I have ordered additional keys from them in the past. Unfortunately as of late they have been manufacturing in Mexico.

I called the Master/American factory in California and was told they don't do re-key work on these padlocks. Without the key code on the key, it is never on the lock, they can't help me.

make me a new key for one of the American Locks that were Army issue for locking your duffle bag. Is was back in the 1990's and wasn't cheap then. I'm going to contact a guy I know that messes around with old Chevy's that makes keys for obscure vehicles When I get a reply I'll PM You.
