  • 93' FLHS Saddle Bag Lock

I know this MC does not meet the threshold, but the sooner I get it fixed the sooner I get back to important business.

1993 was the first year for the saddle bag design where the lids are attached along the outside edge and flip out when opened. The lock mechanism failed (will not turn with the key). Any ideas as to how to open the locked saddle with the lock still engaged?

I have this late model style on my 1991 FLT. Why not drill, out lock and replace lock. Locks are sold individually. Good luck.

I am not as impressed with the saddle bag locking mechanism as I was, still good to keep an honest person honest.

With a thin screw driver the spring steel catch (mounted on the fender support) can be deflected so the inside edge of the lid is released.

Plenty of space to reach in and remove 4 torx screw and the hinge/lock/lid are separated from the lower saddle bag.

The nut that holds the locking tab is in the wide open, problem solved.
