I've seen pictures of them, I don't think you can buy them, I'd like to copy them.

We have been in contact, I'm looking for the tinned copper braid for the plug wires. This an idea i have to copy the plug caps but first I need to find some to measure. Thanks

DCP_1677.JPGI have suppression wires for '40s era police use. I suspect the dimensions are the same as to diameter and overall construction. I can give you dimensions if you need them.

Thank you, I appreciate the offer but the XA plugs are 14mm unlike the 18mm knuckle and use entirely different caps. The panhead police bikes used the same caps as the XA, just a different plug holder.

                    1971super,

Robbie is correct about the high tension wires for 40's being similar in construction as the XA. Other than length, the difference is the attachment to the coil itself as the XA braided cover ends at the front housing and does not extend to the coil. The cable fitting at the plug cover, regardless if 18mm or 14mm is the same for Police & XA.

Regarding the 14mm Police version's plug upper shield #32070-42 and the lower shield #32140-42, they are the same as the XA.

I have used all of these on the XAs I have built.

Regarding reproduction, contact Darcy Miller at http://www.mvspares.com/. He has reproduced the covers and is finishing the wires. Below is a photo of unfinished covers he has made.
