  • 1915 models?

    I recently moved to Delaware.

I was in a local bookstore yesterday and bought a copy of a photo titled "Delaware Cycle Company, Wilmington, 1915" that shows a young man standing behind a row of 6 Harleys. One bike clearly has a twin engine but the one next to it seems to have only a single - was H-D still making singles at that time?

I can't help but wonder what that line up would be worth today!

    Hi Ned:
Harley Davidson offered the single through 1918. In 1919, the single was replaced by the Model W flat twin, but the single was reintroduced in 1921, probably due to dissapointing sales of the flat twin. The 37 inch single evolved into 21" peashooter, the 30.50 speedway bike, etc. Harley singles have been with us on and off all along, later with the Hummer and Sprint, and lately with the Buell Blast.
