  • Can You identify this Clutch/gear locking set !

    Hi !

These parts came with a basketcase 1928 J-model.

I realise these are bolted on the clutch lever and the tapped goes on the transmission lid, but what models/year where these used for ??

    Are these used on a J-model or V-models ???

    Thanks fot looking

Dear Juha, they are not used on the VL. Harley used the clutch operating shaft running across the top of the box from 1915-25, then the clutch actuating fork and horizontal operating lever was introduced in 1926, with the new lock plate for 1928-36. Maybe you have a 1926/7 part, or a later adapter made to bring the earlier parts up the 1928 style.

That is the 1927 only clutch lockout assembly for a Harley J model. It wasn't the best solution hence it's "one year only" status, but if someone if trying for a 100% correct 1927 bike, they would need it. It looks to be the complete assembly and in very good condition.
