  • Plug the holes.......

What is the proper (correct?) method of plugging the 3 buddy seat clip holes in a Harley rear fender? Bolts? If so, what size/type?
Dumb question but I gotta ask.

The same round-head screws, lockwashers and nuts that hold the luggage rack and/or buddy spring yoke hook to the fender, just replaced in the holes. Look in your Harley parts catalog under "Buddy Seat."

The parts catalog (post war) is your friend, illustrating the entire bike in blow-up pictures. If you think the screws without anything under them extend too far towards the tire, use shorter identical screws.

I don't see any mention of size. 1/4" seems too big. 3/16"?

The screws are shown with fenders. Screw is #2762, lockwasher #7035 and nut #7691. The screw is 1/4". Bob L

And something else you have to know about Harley Parts Catalogs: all the way in the back, just before the "Numerical Listing of Part Numbers," is "The Numerical List of "O" Parts' (IN MY 1949 CATALOG.it may have changed in different years).

That is the listing of hardware, showing every nut and bolt's dimensions; well, supposed to be! Some specialty hardware is listed as a part.
