  • 1915 Shift Gate

I have this 1915 shift gate and I'm not sure if it is a real one or a repop. Looking at the edges, I really can't tell if it is stamped or laser/water jet cut. The edges were polished for plating. My point is that the telltale edge characteristics are not there. That leaves the lettering. Does anyone have a good clear picture of an OEM 1915 shift gate that they can post or email to me for comparison. Also, can anyone tell me to +/- 0.020" what the dimension in the first picture is supposed to be?
    Thanks in advance.

    Mark,

I can't help with dimensions but here's a couple links for comparisons. I'm guessing that Terry Marsh would have your answer.

My first reaction was that they had to be repop... because the factory would have fired -- and skinned, not necessarily in that order -- anyone who was using stamps with so little attention to alignment.

But looking at the Original Paint pictures... they sure look similar. I wouldn't call those repops based on the pictures.

      Cheers,
