  • Gas Tank Rebuild Sources

I'm looking for someone to build a set of 1915 HD tanks for me. I have an original set that has all of the fittings in very good condition, but the steel is TOTALLY SHOT!
I had heard that Chris Border of Border Manufacturing was a good source, but I've also heard mention that he was working through some health issues. I'm not even sure if he still does it as I don't have a way to contact him and can't find him on a Google search. I'd obviously like to go to the guy who actually does the work as opposed to 1 or 2 layers of middle men.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks

    Hi Mark:

I have a guy up here who can do that work. He has done some amazing fab work for us. I am glad to put you in touch direct. If you have patterns/originals, I can say for sure that he will get them right dead on. Drop me a PM and I'll hook you guys up.

What we do: www.vintagegaragevt.com If you look at our "projects" page, you can see some of the stuff our fab contractor has worked on.

    Cheers,

    Sirhr

Mark Masa[/QUOTE] Hey Mark I wouldn't bother with border cycles I had a set made (for the cannonball run)and after finally getting him on the phone he said they could to be delivered to davenport well they never showed up and he would not return any calls after I dropped out of the cannonball I went to his shop when I got about a hour away I called and said if you don't return this call the next one will be to the cops for mail fraud he called within 4 minutes I have the tanks and won't be using them if your interested I'll sell them for 1,500.00 that's what I was charged for them not counting the gas and time it took to drive to Kansas

        Mark,

Check with Tom Fesser at Replicant Metals www.replicantmetals.com 717-626-1618. I'm not usre if he does then down that far but I know he does JD and VL stuff and it is flawless. If he does do them he might even have some in stock. If not I'm sure he can do it and do a great job. When he does JD and VL tanks you can either get them either welded or soldered as original.

I can build those for you I build a lot of early tanks. Three of my tanks went on the cannonball and survived. here are some 15 racer tanks i did.
