  • Please Help Me Identify These Early Harley Engines

I recently found these two old Harley engines in a garden shed and bought them.

Both are stamped with the same 1919 Harley VIN but they are not the same. The seller, who has owned them for decades, said he ever bothered to look at the VINs and has no idea what the story is.

    All leads appreciated.

    Buzz,
Have a look at the raised casting numbers on the drive side crankcase.
Common crankcases will have 2-18 for the 1918 to 1924 motors and 1925 on crankcases will have 2-25
There are exceptions but these two casting numbers are what you will generally find

      Interesting.
Ask for help then totally ignore the post
Is this why this forum is struggling?

It seems like Buzz is turning to Facebook for answers. He doesn't seem to like the advice he gets here.
