  • VL parts?

Trying to determine what this belongs to it was with some JD and VL parts I "think" it is a generator clutch gear #1654-32 and spring #1655-32 any help would be appreciated.

Looks like the radio generator clutch to me! Missing the other half of the gear.

Thanks Robbie I kinda thought so I counted theteeth in the parts book but with the small pictures in the book it is a bit hard to be sure.
Looks like I have to dig down to the bottom of the container! Thanks again

        I'm 99% sure that it's not VL.

Hi downunder vl, I am going by a 70+ year old parts book photo what is it that makes you say that it isn't as it is I am only guessing that it might be but I really am not sure, the two pieces were plastic wire tied together with some motor, trans and used generator brushes

Hi Chuck, I've owned my V model for 40+ years and I think I've explored every nook and cranny. In the parts book what do you think that it is? In the book is it from a 74 or 80 cu in.

It came with some JD and VL parts that I bought, the spring and gear were plastic wire tied together I had no idea as to what it was, I sat down one night and went through my parts book and came across the part numbers and description I counted the number of teeth on the gear to the number of them in the book and "thought" that the two pieces might be the clutch gear and spring.

Would you or anyone else have one that I could compare it to? what is it that tells you that it isn't one?

Attached is a photo show an assembled generator that uses the police ratchet gear with an arrow to the part under discussion. Beside that is another laying flat for comparison ... Perry

This is what I believe is the same as what you show in your pictures Perry, First photo is showing one side, hopefully the photos are a bit more clearer than the first ones

And the other side of the gear in question, I couldn't find a mate to it with the other items that it came with.

                    Thanks again Perry

Look closely at the picture of the assembled generator. You'll see the "mate" is the generator gear proper ... Perry
