    Correct Ammeter for 1934 VL?

I've been told that 1934 was a transition year for the ammeter from the Weston type 354 to the white faced ammeter used from 1935 forward to the end of VL production. Can anyone shed some light on this topic?

Dear Leomags, of bikes we think are original, 34VD17xx and 34VLD48xx have the Weston bar and shield ammeter, while 35VDS13xx has the white face Delco one. So we speculate the change was made around mid- to late-1934 model year, though not appearing in the 1935 parts catalog, and not announced as a new feature until the 1936 new model launch Enthusiast. When judging I'd usually let either ammeter go on a '34, but would expect to see the Weston on earlier bikes and the Delco on later ones.
