  • 1932 vl

I'm looking for an explded view of the right side of a 32 VL cam chest with the oil pump.
Trying to assemble a 1932 engine that was given to me with most parts in coffee cans and the rest are missing. I can't start searching for parts untill I know what they look like.
I've searched all the referance books I could find. I have what I'm pretty sure are the only "Shop Dope" collections that cover this year. There doesn't seem to be anything there that helps me.
Any and all help will be appreciated.
    Thanx, Steve

Get Steve Slocomb's book on VL's if you already don't have it or contact him at www.vlheaven.com

The AMCA library has riders handbooks online for members. There is a diagram of the timing gears in the handbook for my 35 model so I'd check if there is a 32 model hanbook if you haven't already. The V model are a great ride so I hope you get it on the road sooner rather than later.

Thanx for all the replys. They are all very helpful Steve S.'s book has a great description of the oil pump and a photo of the parts. I'm still going to keep searching for a blow-out style illustration of the oil pump like we see in later parts books.
Thanx again and Merry Christmas, Steve

Dear Steve, thanks for the nice words. You won't find an exploded diagram of the 1930-33 VL oil pump, so those parts photographed on a sheet is all you're going to get. It's interesting that the 1934-36 oil pump exploded diagram in my restoration book actually came from a 1958 Japanese Rikuo manual. In 1932 they had bought the license to build the VL in Japan, and continued until about 1960, using the Harley part numbers all the time. How cool is that! I sell a fair amount of VL parts to Japan which are probably going into Rikuos. Do we have Japanese members who can provide more information on the Rikuo?
