You are quite correct,on the flat head to OHV conversions,but they are easy to spot.
another place to check is E-bay for flathead parts,or list here at the Parts Wanted section,for the parts you are in need of.

Many parts from the chassis and the transmission are common or adaptable from 45" Twins, especially the early D series. Even the motor part problems can be solved by using 45" parts. We made the B crankpin by shortening a WL sprocket shaft. This way you only had to do one cone and one thread. If I rememger correctly, the old valve guides were fitted with bronze sleeves. Johnny Sells of Vintage Motor Works has written a top quality restoration guide for 1929-36 Forty-Fives. The 1929 DL section and the transmission part gives a lot of answers for B and C single owners. Johnny has a lot of parts too in his catalog.
