can anyone tell me when the grease fitting was added to th e starter crank? part no. 2076-16 it's a very visable thing sticking out on the side of the tranny, i'm working on a late 30 VL. thank you .should i have one or not?

The cranking of the kicker arm came out in 1930 for the VLs, with no change in the 2076-16 part number as it fitted older bikes. I don't recall seeing VL kicker arms without the grease fitting, so reckon they all should have it. For info the VL kicker arm was cranked out further for 1935/6 to clear the new rear tool box, again without changing the part number.
