  • 56 Servi Car Oily & Smokey Mess!

If I let my 45 sit for over a week, when I go to start it, oil flows out of the overflow and it smokes like chimney. The motor is a fresh rebuild with 200 miles.

I am assuming the oil is flowing past the check valve on flooding the lower end. Am I correct? If so, what is the fix? And why the excessive smoke?

    Thanks.

I had a 45 solo model that was famous for doing that. It put big oil puddles in my dad's driveway. Boy he hated that! I think it just took a new ball in the check valve to fix it; possibly also the spring....

I have tapped mine with a drift punch to make a little better seat and it has worked
