took my 1942 "45" for a short ride. going down the road 25 mph the bike just lost power.I stopped , kick started it. started right up and drove home. any ideas what to look for( as a possible cause)???? First time it ever did that.

Could be a number of things. I'd start with the simple stuff like fuel delivery.
Are the gas caps properly vented?
Is the float and carb working properly?
Are your fuel lines clear and flowing properly?
