My First HD V

I just bought a barn fresh 1931 Harley V, my first in the V family, and am looking for recommendations on reference material.

The bike appears to be mostly correct and original but pretty rough. I would guess it has not been run in many years and the clutch is stuck.

Un sticking the clutch is easy if you can get the bike running. Start the bike while it is up on the rear stand. Disengage the clutch. Speed up the engine and have a friend push you off the stand. The clutch will generally break free doing this a time or two.

I would suggest Steve Slocomb @ VL Heaven Steve has a book with all sorts of information on info for the v series motorcycles.

Now all you need is to buy a IV and a VI and you will have three in a row. :-)

But seriously Harley-Davidson sells reprinted parts catalogues and service information. Your local dealer most likely won't be much help so contact the MoCo's Service department direct to buy them. They have combined a lot of information into spiral bound books.
