  • What makes it so rare???

My guestion concerns parts for my WLA.

Why is a rear brake drum NOS... or like NOS.....OR rebuildable one soooo hard to find?

I can find NOS backing plates, rivets, sprockets, brake shoes and parts........NO....brake drum....aaahhhhhh..

I guess that I may start looking for a NOS.......or decent set of knuck engine cases too.

I have had the same thing looking for a rear drum for my Panhead. I now have a complete NOS rear brake, except for the drum. Maybe they wore out? Maybe easier to can the whole thing, than change the sprocket? But that is the way it goes. If this was easy,.............

      Mike...

      I tried a repo one..........no workie....(at least correctly)..

Found a very used original one.....works as supposed to.

BUT........sprocket is worn out... and the rivits are way too oversized, I don't think that I would be able to drill out the rivets without blowing the holes out even farther making the part completely unable to be used..

Heck.......now I am just looking to find one that is rebuildable.

Found a NOS one in Holland..

Probably replace the one on the WLA this weekend.

Then I will see if I can fix the one that's on her.... I got a NOS sprocket and dustshield for it....I won't know for sure if the rivet holes are all blown out of size till I get it apart..
