After the last ride around the neighborhood my 45 seemed like it sumped a little more than usual, oiling the lift pretty well. Before ordering some parts to pull the pump to inspect it I removed the outboard check valve cap (green arrow) just to have a peek. What I found under the cap looked to me like a big twin relief valve spring about 1/4" longer than the 45 relief spring. It didn't fit into the cap and I was thinking someone put the springs in the wrong way round. So I removed the relief cap (red arrow), adjuster screw, and the spring looked and measured about right. The underside check (yellow arrow) had what looked like a collapsed normal check spring. The centrifugal valve in the rotor after cleaning rattled, though it's tough to see it move.
After putting the pump back together, I had a thought. Was the relief spring under the green arrow check cap intentional to negate the centrifugal valve in the rotor?
