  • VL Transmission Countershaft Roller Retainer 1932 - 1936 74" and 80" Twins

Would anyone out there have the countershaft roller retainer (2) part no 2291-28 . This roller retainer holds bearings (21) 2289-25 in the countershaft. I have the correct bearings but missing the retainers. I'm down to the short strokes and could use a stroke of luck on this one.

Dear John, I now cut them down from 45 roller cages.

Dear Steve, That makes sense to me. I have a lathe but I don't think I'm skilled enough to that operation. Best call in the big guns and see what he thinks. Much appreciated.

Dear John, I use the 415-37 cages and take them down on a grinding wheel with the shield removed. 40 thou to remove is about one millimetre and I check dimensions with digital calipers as I go along.
