i am working on a bike titled as a 1942 wla. the motor and tranny were purchased separately, and everything else gathered up. I do not know the year of the frame. It has a speedo and dash mount. The rear wheel seems to be off center about 1/2 inch to the left. The chain is lined up ok. Do i need an early brake drum (1936/1940)?. If so is the axle spacer and brake sleeve different? what about the brake shoes? I suppose the small difference will not hurt the handling as I am planning on a sidecar for it. Can anyone shed any light on this? Thanks, eap53.

If your frame has three mounting points for the transmission it is the correct type for '41 and later,.if only two it is a '40 and earlier type The axle and spacers for three bolt frames are longer than the ones for two bolt. You may just have an incorrect spacer. The difference in frame width and brake drum are 7/16".Last edited by Rubone; 03-12-2025, 08:49 AM.Robbie Knight Amca #2736
