  • WL/45 vs VL motor mounts

Hello everyone, I recently got a VL frame where someone tried modifying the motor mounts via welding. Needless to say, the motor mounts are destroyed. This includes both the front and back. This brings me to my question. Can I use WL/45 motor mounts on a VL case and frame? I have searched but cannot find the specs on the motor mounts. Steve Slocombe's book doesn't discuss the dimensions either. I also don't have access to a WL to measure. So, I would greatly appreciate any information you may have on this. Or, if you know a source for VL motor mounts or someone that is good at repairing frames, could you send a recommendation? Best Regards & Thank You

No 45 spacing is different. You need big twin mounts.

I was afraid of that. I'll have to search a little harder for those mounts. Thank you.

There are a couple of companies in Europe, Poland and Germany I think, that build beautiful reproduction frames. I don't know if they do VLs or if they would sell castings, but you could turn your search in that direction.

Thank you for the heads up. I have purchased some items from W&W in Germany. They are good to deal with. I have purchased items from them and got them faster than items purchased in the US.
