Linkert carburetor covers and atomizer

Dear colleagues, does anyone have the experience in using one of these small Linkert carburetor covers instead of the big air filter pan?
is there a possibility to secure an effective protection by using these covers, like adding an atomizer beneath or perhaps making a mesh filter under the cover?

Dear Ed, the Harley carburetors did not have a mesh pack until the optional 1935 item, and most roads were still unpaved then. I would not worry about modifying your cool cover.

Hi Steve, thank you very much for your reply. It is great to hear you see no problem in replacing the pan type air cover by a smaller one. My concern was that in the big oil cover I normally apply oil on the mesh filter, while in the one I referred to in a picture, it wouldn’t be possible, unless I add to that an Atomizer (picture) net and somehow make a filter to it, but if it is not required, then the problem is solved.

What does the backside look like, Ed?

Some had clips for a sheet of mesh:

Oil only works electrostatically with copper.

Hi Cotten, here is a picture of the back side, there is no clip on it.
I thought to fit an atomizer behind, I’d it would be of any help or need,

Looks boogered to me, Ed!

And I suspect the atomizer was designed to extend into the carb, rather than the horn.

The one on ebay looks like its ready to fall apart...

I agre, but I was thinking more about to fit the new carburetor cover on top of this other atomizer net, which is different from the one from eBay (see pictures).

The best I can say about it, Ed,...

Its not as restrictive, at least.

It is silly to call either an "atomizer" when they are upstream of the fuel flow!
