I picked up a Linkert M51, 3 Line, for my 46 WL as from what I have read it is the correct carb for this year and model. Since I restored this bike almost 30 years ago, I have been running an M88 Linkert on the bike with no issues. The M51 came with a crab bowl that sits entirely flat against the bottom of the carb which if I am not mistaken is actually for OHV model motors. The M88 has a carb bowl that sits with the needle and seat offset from the carb with a raised portion that has a nut on top.
So, the two question I have are: 1) When I set this carb up to put it on my 46 WL do I set it up with a Side Valve Bowl just like the M88 or with the bowl that came with the carb?? 2) Should this carb be painted black or left raw brass?? Thanks for the help
