Hey Everyone,
Working on my '42 WLC.
Generator removal, engine out of frame.
I have the two generator bolts out and the strap loosened. I can withdraw the generator less than inch but that's it. It feels like the gear is catching on something. I can rotate the generator nearly 360 degrees, but it refuses to be extracted from the case.
I have not removed the gear cover yet. Obviously that's the next step, to see if the generator gear is catching on something. Thought I'd come here first. I cannot find anywhere in the engine overhaul manual that says anything about removing the gear cover in order to remove the generator. It actually doesn't make much sense to have to remove the gear cover in order to remove and service the generator. I'm removing the generator so that I can get at the right front cylinder bolt. So you see my quandary?
Thanks,
Loch
