I have two questions that deal with the VL transmission assembly, although it's a mute question since I'm using sealed bearings in my assembly.
Here is how the right side mainshaft bearing is assembled: Mainshaft, Oil Retainer, Main shaft ball bearing, Roller bearing inner race and ball bearing housing.

To me it seems that there should be something between the Oil retainer and ball bearings to equalize the side forces induced by screwing in the ball bearing housing.
Am I missing a part or is this how Harley designed it?
Question two: The ball bearing are not symmetrical, so the side that protrudes, does it go in or out during the assembly?

Thanks again, Lippy
