1935 Harley vl clutch pedal question

When I took apart the brass friction discs, they were coated in grease.
i am wondering if this is proper or are they suppose to be dry?
    thank you

Dear Wildcat, it seems to be up to the owner. I've seen them dry and I've seen them with a hand made leather washer in there. I use a steering damper friction disc, enlarge the center hole, then grease it both sides. This gives the right amount of feel for me on the rocker clutch, but others may differ.

Great advice. I think I will try it also.
        Merry Christmas to all.
