  • VL Headlight Bracket

In the picture below are 2 VL headlight brackets, but they are slightly different. The one in the background came off my 35 VLD, the one in foreground is a re-pop that I got from a seller of VL parts. I talked with that vendor and he assures me that it's a correct reproduction of an OEM one that he owned. The difference is that the re-pop has different bends in the front legs. The one off my 35 has gradually curved legs. So which one is correct? Did Harley make a change in a certain year, or perhaps they subcontracted this part out? Thanks, Lippy

There were a few odd VL configurations for headlight, horn, and even an optional J type tool box on police models.

I'd guess the brackets get bent to adjust the dip on the headlamp, and someone has copied one of those. The big change on the VL headlight was the 1935 change from the Motolamp to the Cycleray, but the parts books do not show any corresponding change in the bracket.
