  • Can anyone ID this motorcycle?

    Can anyone help identify/verify the Model and Year of this motorcycle from the photo?
    1935 VLD ???

    Ok, thank you for the response. Did the 36' model have the wide two-tone paint on the rear fender like this ?
    Sorry the picture quality is poor, the original I have is a little more telling. The photo is of my grandfather and grandmother. It was taken prior to him going over seas for WWII. Over there he rode a WLA of course which I have images of as well. I'd really like to know what year and model this bike is...

      Yes, I have looked at many images under the search feature. I just have not been 100% confident in some of the little discrepancies I have seen. I like your idea of searching the state historical society because perhaps I can locate the information on the knuckle head he's photos on as well. I'll have to look into that here in Minnesota. Thank you.

        The picture could use a lot more pixels but it does look like a '36 VL with that tank pattern and the first year of the flying ball tank decal. The faired-in taillight and white grips would also be correct for the period. That might just be the 1936 rear stand, made with flattened tubing rather than the earlier channel section. If you have a picture nearer the front of the bike you might see the one-year 1936 chromed horn brackets and be more certain.
