1931 Harley VL with positive ground?

  • 1931 Harley VL with positive ground?

    I am helping a friend get the bugs out of a very original poorly running 6-volt 1931 VL. We found that due to a previous wiring error the bike is running with a positive ground. We have corrected to negative ground. Would this previous positive ground have ruined coil, generator, or any other electrical components? I assume it would ruin the generator relay, is this correct. Thanks!

    Would have to reflash generator and make sure coil is wired properly. Relay doesn't care if pos. or neg.

      How do you know which post is positive or negative on coil?

        Isn't the one nearest the front the positive? Green wire from dash I think.
