I am having a hard time greasing the zert on the front back plate not sure how much grease is needed in there also there is a fitting on the bottom what is this fittings purpose Thanks if you can help

Not much grease is needed, and the fitting on the underside is essentially a drain for excess.

I would think you remove the fitting and pump fresh grease into the zerk until fresh grease comes out of the removed fitting?

Lyle,That bottom drain fitting is a tube,no need to remove it to grease & that would be way too much grease.
