  • Relief pipe ’35 VLD

D21AF30A-7953-40CB-90E1-A82423A705CF.jpegBD250D53-24B1-4495-AE5E-7636D16775A6.jpeg Well I did it now. Oil was leaking from the relief pipe as it comes out of the case. Cranked it down a little too hard in cracked the Case. It appears the threads were damaged as well and I suspect they were like that before I screwed up. Any suggestions on how I shall repair and get the relief pipe in there tight enough so it doesn’t leak. Thank you in advance. JF (aka Hdace).

smear some ez-turn sealant on the relief tube fitting & re install it. you will never get a vl to be leak free unless its a fresh build with zero oil in it. all 5 of my running vl's leak oil. it's part of the design.

Too late…broken the crack off. JB welded it back on. Took a brass plug, ground the thread off it and shoved it up the hole with a glob of Yama Bond 4 thus no more relief pipe.
