I am looking for the correct part # for the cable clamp that secures the spark advance cable to the bottom cylinder bolt that holds the cable housing from moving . I am sure many different clamps will work . from looking at many pictures i think the clamp has a separate bolt and nut to tighten down on the cable without loosening the cylinder base nut . Thanks if you can help

The '38 up clamp is two piece with a screw and nut to close the clamp around the cable. It is also built with a slight twist in it to line up the cable, repops may not line up without a slight tweak. No clamp appears in either the '37 or '38 parts catalogs for the '37 U series, the clamp is new for '38.Robbie Knight Amca #2736

The spark cable you are looking for is a 3392-37A Timer Control Coil Bracket , Lower, with a 3371-36A Bracket Clamp held together by an 042 Fillister head screw 12-24 by 1/2 and an 0255 lockwasher.
There is also an upper bracket under a head bolt on the front head. This is a 3392-37 Timer Control Coil Bracket, Upper. This number is for the complete assembly They are listed in the parts books for 1937, 1939, 1940 and 1936-48 Big twin. These brackets are shown in Bruce Palmer's books; second edition: pages 127, 304 and the third edition: pages 131, 348.
Neither is made by Colony but I was able to use 3371-36 Throttle Cable Bracket for 1936-1948 O.H.V., Colony number 9005-4 with a little tweaking on my 1937 UL. Hope this helps.
