  • 1952 Tank shift linkage adjustment

Havin a problem adjusting shift linkage cant get the adjustment for reverse (Servi Car) I have to hold shifter to keep in reverse, anyone know the proper adjustment procedure so everything lines up with the gates on the tank shifter,

Is your shift drum timed correctly for a reverse gearbox? Solo and Servi are timed differently. See the service manual. You may not have enough throw in the lever to get it right if it is timed incorrectly.

Thanks was hoping for something sampler than pulling the transmission apart, if I cant make a adjustment just wont use reverse and rebuild transmission this winter

Check all the fittings and pivot points on the shift linkage. Does not take much slop to make it not have the full throw to reach all of the gears. The pivot bolt at the base of the fuel tank on my bike likes to loosen up, when it happens you think you destroyed the transmission. Then you tighten the bolt and all is well again. Good luck.
