VL Rear Stand Catch - Inside or Outside Mount?

I've scoured the interwebs for photos of where to mount the rear stand catch that will go on my 1932 VL. About 75% are mounted on inside of the mud guard and the remainder on the outside. Anyone know the proper location?

    Thanks!

I have 3 VL's 2 36VLH and one 33VLD and all are mounted on the inside.

The factory archive 31VL has it on the inside.

Fantastic. Thanks. I saw this '31 VL being shown at the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance in 2013 that was mounted outside.

Factory photos show it mounted on the inside.

And then of course common sense dictates inside mounting. That way the pressure is distributed through the fender itself, outside mounting makes the pressure just on the nuts and washers and will rip through the fender in short order.
