oil level should be between danger and refill line.... right?

No, it should be above refill line. Refill line means it is a quart low.

thanks! .. so. upto where should be enough? I think the tank should not be filled up .. as the vent pipe should not be covered .....

if your gearbox is dry, look in the manual for the correct amount of oil. Fill the box with that amount. Put in the dipstick and make a mark where the oil level is. Now you have a permanent high level mark.

Not a gearbox, a 45 oil tank.

The tank should never be full, there must be an air space to allow for expansion due to operating temperature.
The engine will run as long as there is any oil going to the feed pump, this is not like a car engine where the pump pick-up must be covered. If the oil level is low the oil temperature will rise but the pressure in the engine will continue.

If you are running a servicar install a square shovelhead oil tank under the seat with a dip stick and filter all in one and gain the extra space for gas. Just My 2 cents worth.

These engines have very few pressurized plain bearings (only in the cam cover), and run quite a while with very little oil (although obviously it's a bad idea).
