  • manifold leaks

Having bad time to seal up. got some peek seals but no help. is .003" out of round on each side too much? I even tried some Hylomar Blue. still leaks. do I need a new manifold and nuts? What other sealers may work?

    Jug!

Four thou would be max, but only if the spigots are otherwise true, straight, and blemish free.
(Any blemishes would be impressed into the the expensive seals, reducing their extended re-useability.)

The fit of the PEEK seal to the spigot is paramount. It should be a squeeze-on fit (and not just at a flash line in the middle).

The seal should also be matched to the nut. Brass seals were made thin to flex and bite upon the spigot; PEEK needs to be fat enough to resist arching. Beware also that some popular reproduction nuts are off on their internal bevel by as much as 7°!

Even the best sealers are a lit fuse with today's fuels.
And none of them stick to PEEK anyway.

Sorry I missed your last reply, Jug!

Most vendors sell basically the same nuts.
A lot has to do with when they were made, as well as who made them.

So I have to measure each nut before I cut a seal for it.

A goober might work for a while.
How far from home will you be when it don't?
