VL Clutch springs

Newbe first time posting. I see where there is 2 ways to build the clutch pack right and wrong. Steve Slocombe talks about leaving 1 spring off of the disc legs, does this mean use 6 springs not 9? Sorry if this is a dumb question.

It’s not a dumb question. Use all 9 springs just don’t put any of them on the legs as you call them.
